U.S. DOJ requesting more information for MetroPCS merger approval

MetroPCS Logo

MetroPCS announced today that the U.S. DOJ (Department of Justice) has requested additional information from the company regarding its proposed merger with Deutsche Telekom's subsidiary, T-Mobile USA. Although it has not disclosed what additional information is required, MetroPCS intends to fully comply with any DOJ requests. The end result, assuming that this second request goes to plan, is that the merger approval process may be postponed by up to 30 days extra.

Even with this possible month setback, MetroPCS continues to expect that the merger with T-Mobile will be completed in the first half of 2013. The companies are confident that the U.S. government will find the merger to be both pro-competition and pro-consumer.
