Boston Childrens Museum Introduces New Discount | jitnews.com

Boston, MA (PRWEB) August 02, 2012

Boston Childrens Museum (BCM) is introducing a new program that invites all Massachusetts residents with Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards to show their card to get a discounted $ 2 per person cash admission. The discount applies for up to four people per card, per visit. The Museum does not process EBT transactions; cash or other payment must be provided for admission.

BCM hopes to bring awareness to this offer which allows all families and their children to enjoy one of the regions most important early childhood educational and cultural institutions at an extremely affordable price. The Museum is an invaluable resource in that it provides delightfully interactive arts, science, health and multicultural experiences that engage the whole family. Children ages 0-10 with their adult caregivers explore, discover, and find joyful experiences that instill an appreciation of our world, develop foundational skills, and spark a lifelong love of learning.

As part of Boston Childrens Museums commitment to the community, we are determined to keep access affordable for all. To do this, we have updated and improved our Discount admission program, said Carole Charnow President & CEO.

The Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) administers benefits through EBT cards to help low-income individuals and families meet their basic needs, increase their incomes and improve their quality of life. Serving one out of every eight people in the Commonwealth, DTA is an agency within the Executive Office of Health and Human Services and ensures that the emergency and transitional needs of the individuals and families of the Commonwealth are met through a combination of state and federally-funded programs.

This discount is a great opportunity to make the Museums wonderful exhibits and activities accessible for the people we serve, including families receiving transitional assistance, said Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. JudyAnn Bigby.

Boston Childrens Museum welcomes nearly 600,000 visitors annually, including more than 29% who access the Museum through free or discounted programs.

Boston Childrens Museum also offers a free Sponsored Visits Program. This program opens the Museums doors to kids who would not be able to afford a visit so that they, too, can take advantage of the opportunities for fun and hands-on learning. The programs and exhibits invite kids to engage with the world they live in through programming and exhibits in visual and performing arts, science, math, physical fitness, and diversity in Boston as they play with their friends and families. As schools and after-care programs face funding challenges, Boston Children?s Museum continues to expand the number of free visits to kids in need with an equal playing field.

The Sponsored Visits Program is made possible with the help of donor companies whose consistent commitment to the Museums mission, programs and facilities bring together the best resources of early childhood education and a unique urban environment to benefit Boston?s kids. This past year 19,288 individuals and 333 groups attended the Museum for free, thanks to our Sponsored Visits Program.
